Initial Assessment
I offer an initial assessment to discover if I am the right service for you and this involves a thorough and collaborative process. This is where we get to know each other and your unique needs, strengths, and challenges. Here's a general breakdown of what you can expect during the assessment:
- Building Rapport and Creating a Safe Space
- Background Information Gathering
This includes:
- taking your personal history
- exploring your challenges and strengths
- areas for further exploration
- Discussion of Specific Concerns or Goals
After gathering all the information, I will give you feedback, and we will outline a plan for ongoing sessions and interventions, and make sure you feel comfortable with the next steps.
Please note-If you are currently in crisis or feel you need more intensive support for your mental health, psychotherapy or other mental health services may be more suitable for your needs before occupational therapy
Crisis Care is designed to address urgent needs like preventing harm, managing extreme distress, or addressing severe mental health concerns (e.g., suicidal thoughts or psychosis).
Occupational therapy, although trauma informed, instead focuses on how to improve your daily functioning and quality of life over time. In a crisis, the priority is stabilization, ensuring safety, and addressing immediate risks or concerns. If you feel you may be in crisis, please contact your GP.
